Swedenborgian Theology

At the heart of Swedenborg’s theology is a view of Jesus Christ as God incarnate, Divinity not only taking on human form but also entering into the process of human growth. The truest form of worship is the service we offer each other, the faithful meeting of our responsibilities, the honest communication of our thoughts, and the gentleness of our respect for each other’s deeply held feelings. These values, Swedenborg insisted, are essential to human survival and are present in some form in every religion on earth; and as the human body is enriched by the variety of its organs, so human community can be enriched by the variety of its forms of religious expression.
